Honors & Memorials
Sponsoring a fence is a meaningful way to honor a special person or pet.
A generous donation changes the lives of dogs and their families while also creating a lasting memory for the donor and their honoree.

Our co-founder and chair Kelly Peterson marked Father's Day 2024 with a special build in memory of her father, John Snyder. On her first Father's Day without her dad, Kelly and her closest Fido friends freed two young Portland dogs from 24/7 chaining. It was a fitting way to honor Kelly's father, who so fully and proudly supported her work on behalf of animals.
We captured the memories of that build for Ryder and Bleu on our Facebook page.

Chief, Moody, Jake, & Ronnie used to spend all their days in crates or on tethers. Their family desperately tried everything to keep them safely in their yards, but these clever tricksters always found a way out. A longtime supporter sponsored this build in memory of his son Ethan who loved dogs, and especially loved his black lab named Honey.

Luna and Sunny had a taste for adventure, but their impromptu walkabouts stirred up more trouble than adventure. They got tethered to the porch after chasing a neighbor's chickens.
A donor sponsored this fence in memory of her mother, Helen, saying, "She loved all of my dogs as the true grandchildren they were."
Sunny and Luna and the neighborhood chickens are all thankful that Helen's memory inspired this act of kindness.

This build was sponsored by a long-time donor in memory of her grandfather. “Ron was a loving husband to Nancy, father of three, and grandfather of four. He never let a day pass without telling you how beautiful you were, how special you were, and how loved you were. He loved dogs his entire life, but as the years passed and he was no longer able to care for a dog of his own. Spending time with dogs lifted his spirits more than anything else. His eyes would light up at the sight of any dog, and the work that you do at Fences for Fido would fill his spirit with love and pride.”
Sponsoring a fence in memory of this compassionate dog-lover made it possible for Grumpy and Athena to live chain-free and happy.

Longtime Fido volunteer and board member Becky Robbins chose a great big dog to honor the memory of her father's great big heart for dogs. Holly wasn't chained, but as a gigantic dog who is protective of her house and family, she'd gotten herself in serious trouble by scaring people. Now she's safe.
As Becky said, "Today these dogs & family received a much-needed fence to keep all safe. I’m proud to be part of the life changing work of Fences For Fido. And I was blessed with the chance to do it in my dad’s honor. Animal lover galore. Thank you."

Best friends Bella & Guinness passed away within two days of each other, leaving two heartbreaking dog-shaped holes in their family. A friend honored the family's special bond by sponsoring a fence as a beautiful dedication.
Gus, Birdie, Pearl, Colt & Rambler got a safe fence to protect them from a neighborhood dispute that presented a grave danger to these curious fidos.
